Why Lab Automation?
Ian's recruitment journey began in San Francisco, where he placed engineers in Big Tech, Digital Health, Biotech, and Medical Device companies. Despite his success, he struggled to find a niche he was truly passionate about—until the pandemic hit in 2020.
In response to the urgent need for automation in Covid-19 testing, Ian helped companies build their automation departments from the ground up. It was here he discovered the significant shortage of qualified candidates capable of building, programming, testing, and servicing automated equipment. This realization ignited his fascination with the technology and the dedicated, tight-knit community behind it.
Recognizing both the incredible achievements and the vast potential for growth in lab automation, Ian has since focused exclusively on hiring automation specialists for various labs and product companies.
Why Start BioMed Recruitment?
In early 2021, Ian returned to his hometown in North County San Diego to start BioMed Recruitment. Reconnecting with Chris, a fellow Encinitas native and successful recruiter, the two shared a vision to offer a more progressive and specialized service than generic recruitment agencies.
